About

StageDoor

OUR STORY

For over 30 years, StageDoor Theatre has provided a theatrical home to this mountain community we call home. From adults looking for a creative outlet to students experiencing the arts for the first time, to patrons in search of solid, hometown entertainment. There is one thing that has endured as we have grown and evolved — StageDoor is a welcoming, supportive place for all who enter its doors. We are genuinely thankful for the opportunity to serve our community in this way.

From 1990-1994 StageDoor was known as The Shadow Mountain Theatre Company, changing its name to Conifer's StageDoor Theatre in 1995. From 1990-2003  performances were in a number of facilities in the Conifer area—often in area schools, churches and community facilities.  In 2003 StageDoor leased a 1,500 sf facility in Aspen Park.

In April 2010, StageDoor opened its new theater.  This Doubled our space to over 5,000 square feet and raised seating capacity from 80 to 121, along with providing a significantly larger main stage.   Since that time, we added 2,500 square feet to meet increased demand for educational rehearsal and performing space.

StageDoor has offered summer programs since 1990 and a year-round K-12 education program since 2001.  In March of 2003, the year-round educational program began. The first production in September, 2003 was "The Music Man" performed at Evergreen High School.

The after school and summer programs provide performance arts education in acting, music, dance, and related technical skills for youth ages 6 to 18.  These programs foster public speaking skills, cooperative peer interaction, and self-confidence.  In 2003 our year-round program began with less than 50 students. Enrollment in 2019 exceeded 200 individual youths, and we are committed to continuing to offer programming and performance opportunities as part of our mission.

Adult actors, singers, dancers, musicians, and drama enthusiasts also find a place in StageDoor's repertoire.  Workshops and productions for adults encourage novice or seasoned performers to learn new skills and improve their techniques.

WE THANK OUR STUDENTS, ARTISTS, CREATIVE STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, AND ESPCIALLY OUR PATRONS FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND INVOLVEMENT!
