PERFORMING ARTS EDUCATION 2019/2020

Our Performing Arts Education Program offers seasonal productions for students of all ages and skill levels. Students register for select classes that prepare them for particular performances throughout the season. The purpose of our classes is to provide a balanced program that guides students through the fundamentals and into more advanced theatre arts processes. In the end, the theatre experience is one of fun, friendships and growth.

Our Debut Company is for students in grades K-2, and is a great introduction to the theatre world.  Students learn how to present themselves on stage, recite lines, and sing and dance together.

Once Upon a Lily Pad

What's this? A green frog feeling blue? Frederich J. Frog has lost all of his self-confidence and is feeling miserable. As he wanders around the pond, he finds that all of the other pond creatures have something that he wishes he had. The egrets, the turtles, the fireflies, all have their own special talents.  What can Freddie do?

Wilbur and the Web
This wonderful adaptation of E.B. White’s
Charlotte’s Web captures the imagination of young and old alike!  From barnyard to County Fair carnival, Charlotte, a brave and enterprising spider, weaves messages in her web to save the life of Wilbur the pig, who repays her by saving the lives of her 514 babies! She is aided by Templeton, a jazz-loving dirty rat, line-dancing goslings and their garrulous mother and a whole host of barnyard animals.

Junior Company

There are many opportunities for Middle School students to engage in our theatre community!  Students can write and perform their own play in Play Making. Or join our large-cast musicals in fall or spring.  Though they work closely with a director, choreographer, and music director, students at this level are given more responsibility for learning their lines and songs on their own. Rehearsal times are spent blocking scenes, helping students get into character, and working on harmonies to pull together an amazing show!

Disney's Alice in Wonderland, Jr.

Travel down the rabbit hole and join Alice, one of literature’s most beloved heroines, in her madcap adventures. The ever-curious Alice’s journey begins innocently enough as she chases the White Rabbit.  Her adventures become increasingly more strange as she races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game!

She Kills Monsters
A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
