MAPQUEST

Conifer's StageDoor Theatre Background:

Conifer's StageDoor Theatre (CSDT) was established to provide the communities of the 285 corridor and Platte Canyon the opportunity to attend and participate in locally produced performing arts programs. These productions include, but are not limited to, theatre arts, music, and dance. In addition, the StageDoor works to bring workshops and classes to the community in the performing arts, with a particular emphasis on programs for children, both in conjunction with and in addition to, the public school programs.

History and Accomplishments:

Since the inception of Conifer's StageDoor Theatre in 1990, CSDT has presented over 70 main stage productions that have involved hundreds of community members and provided creative outlets for people of all ages. CSDT provides individuals and families a creative environment for collaborative projects while meeting a diverse collection of neighbors and building community networks. The productions continually provide quality entertainment to thousands of audience members. The past 2002 season of four productions included a collection of one acts (Mere Mortals) promoting new directors, an exploration of existentialism (Waiting for Godot), an additional drama (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) and a holiday production (The Snow Queen). The 2002 season will also included Summer Music/Drama Camp sessions. The 2001 season included four main stage productions (Treasure Island, Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grille, Sleuth and Room Service) as well as two sessions of Summer Music/Drama Camp.

The Summer Music/Drama Camp provides a performing arts experience for community youth. Each session includes a two-week performing arts workshop culminating in a live performance. This program provides a valuable summer activity in an expanding population area struggling to keep pace with community growth. The 1998, 1999,and 2000 seasons collectively presented 15 main stage productions as well as the annual Summer Music/Drama Camp programs.

In March of 2003, the StageDoor Theatrical School opened with the intent of bring musical theater classes to students ranging in age from 6 to 18 years. Our first production in September 2003 was "The Music Man". Our 2004 season included "Annie", "Guys and Dolls", "A Broadway Revue" and closed with "Godspell". Our 2005 planned productions include "Once Upon a Mattress", "West Side Story" , "Dear Edwina" and "Your a Good Man Charlie Brown". Our school census stands at 100 students and consist of a Junior Company, Broadway Company and Marquis Company.

Please see Theatrical School link for more details.

Conclusion:

CSDT has a proud and continuous history of providing quality theatrical experiences for the residents of our mountain community. CSDT has successfully completed these activities over the last fifteen years with the help of a volunteer staff including directors, actors, designers, stage managers, technicians, publicity and marketing, as well as house management, including 100% participation from the board of directors. CSDT regularly draws from a pool of over 150 volunteers, and typically serves an annual audience of over 2,500 as well as over 140 students from more then nine local schools and home schooled children thru the theatrical school and summer drama camp.

We look forward to continuing this tradition of performances and education in our Mountain Community
